News from our Principal

 Mrs Sue Clay

Dear Parents,

Today we celebrated Book Week with a book parade, art showcase in the library, open classrooms and a picnic lunch. The morning concluded with an amazing Book Week performance, “Dreaming with Eyes Open”, put on by 150 extremely talented primary students. It was full of fun, high energy, incorporating drama, dance, music  and song. It was a wonderful opportunity for so many of our gifted performers to share their gifts and talents with the community. Thank you for supporting us with your attendance and enthusiasm for what we do here at Our Lady of Fatima. It was lovely to see so many of you here. I’d like to congratulate Ms Warton and her team for the effort and time in putting such a quality performance together. They are truly a blessing to us with their passionate ways and willingness to share them with us. I look forward to our Father’s Day breakfast and liturgy next week, our K-2 Fun and Fitness Day and our Grandparents Day Mass. (see the parent calendar for dates)

Staff Development Days for 2022

Sydney Catholic Schools has approved new days for staff development and professional learning before the end of this year for all our Catholic Schools. At Our Lady of Fatima the staff will be engaging in unpacking the new English and Mathematics Syllabus for K-2 and looking at the changes in the Religious Education syllabus for Stage 3 in readiness for their implementation in 2023. These days are important for staff to collaborate together to gain a better understanding of how to meet the needs of the students and their learning.

Please take note of the following dates that have been chosen to cause the least disruption to student learning before the end of the year. These dates can also be found on the parent calendar. If for any reason you cannot find supervision for your child/ren there will be supervision available for them at school on any of the following days.

  • Friday 23rd September (Last day of Term 3)
  • Monday 10th October (First day of Term 4)
  • Friday 4th November Staff Spirituality Day ( Term 4 Week 4)
  • Thursday 15th December ( Term 4 Week 10)
  • Friday 16th December (Term 4 Week 10)

( Note: Students last day of school will be Wednesday 14th December)

Calendar Dates

Please take note of the new link in our newsletter that highlights our school parent calendar. All school events are posted on this calendar and are there for your reference. Current events, updated dates and changes will also be communicated to you separately to ensure you are aware of what is going on.

Thank You

Finally, thank you for your support, prayers and kind words recently on the passing of my beautiful mother. Whilst it has been a sad time for my family I have felt very supported and comforted in such a heartfelt way from the Our Lady of Fatima community. Your children have been especially sweet and generous with their innocence and genuine concern for me at this sad time. Mum’s farewell Mass was a beautiful celebration of her life last week and very special. May she now rest in peace in the loving arms of her God (and back with my dad again!)
