Sport
Term three was an incredibly successful term for interschool sport at CHS with ten teams making an appearance at regional finals. For the first time in CHS history we have seen four qualifications for state championships from our athletics, cross country, year 7 soccer and senior basketball team. We are incredibly proud of all the students for both their sporting success and the way they have conducted themselves at each tournament.
Moreland Division Sport
So many sporting opportunities at our Division competition this term, we had teams represent Coburg High in Table Tennis, Futsal, Basketball, and Hockey.

Year 7 Soccer
On Friday 2nd September, The Year 7 Boys Soccer team traveled to the Darebin International Sports Centre to participate in the state finals, an achievement greater than that of any CHS team sport previously. The CHS team drew Lavalla Catholic College (Traralgon), Mt Clear College (Ballarat) and Albert Park Secondary College (Melbourne) in their pool, knowing they would need to finish on top to progress to the final.
CHS won the first game against Lavalla Catholic College 3-1with Max, Kemda and Dom scoring. The second game against Mt Clear College was a massive 4-1 win with Lachy (2), Max and Ziggy scoring. The highlight of the game would have to be Lachy’s 2 goals and Ziggy’s persistence to get his goal after hitting the crossbar twice.
CHS went into the last game knowing nothing less than a win was needed as Albert Park Secondary College took a slightly better goal difference into the game. Unfortunately the boys struggled to break down the opposition defense, with the game finishing in a 0-0 draw, knocking them out of the competition agonisingly short of a place in the final.
The boys can hold their heads incredibly high and can boast an undefeated campaign at divisional, regional and state level, conceding only 3 goals cumulatively. Despite their disappointment, the boys are eager to achieve bigger and better things in 2023.

Athletics
On 31st August, we competed in athletics at the North Metropolitan Region Championships for Athletics. There was a full day of great effort from everyone who went, including a remarkable amount of medals won by vast amounts of our team, with a couple winning their event and qualifying through to the state championships. However making it to the competition required passing through previous rounds and should be commendable just to compete. Special thanks to Erin and Clare for marshalling the boys' Triple Jump and keeping a very relaxed, fun and supportive environment throughout the day.

Basketball Academy
In Term 3 we had our termly Academy Breakfast. It is great to have the Juniors and Seniors together for the morning, and it's always a lot of fun.
Term 4 was the Academy Cup, a fun and fast-paced tournament for the Year 7s and 8s. It was fantastic to have so many students, faculty, and family come along to support our athletes.
Congratulations to Team Hustle for taking out the Cup for 2022 in an extremely close grand final against Team Crossover.
