Term 1 - Week 2- OSHC News

My Time Our Place: The first weeks of term are always jam packed and full of excitement, new friends and fun experiences! We would like to welcome all old and new families to our OSHC service and we look forward to what the year ahead holds for us.

During the first week at OSHC the children have participated in a variety of activities to help them settle back into our OSHC routine and familiarise themselves with the service. These activities included playing ‘Get To Know You’ Bingo, completing and building on their personal portfolios and participating in team building activities. The children have also played an active role in caring for and looking after our OSHC garden which has flourished over the school holidays. We look forward to putting some of our own veggies onto the fruit and veg platters for the children to enjoy. As the first two weeks come to a close we look forward to watching new friendships blossom, independence grow and the opportunity to learn and expand!

Vacation Care Newsletter: The December/January Vacation Care Newsletter is now available from the OSHC room, front office, attached below or online on the LNPS website. Be sure to pick up a copy to see all of the fun and exciting activities the children got involved in these holidays!

Vacation Care Payments: A friendly reminder to all families that used our Vacation Care service that all fees need to be finalised by the end of week 4 to avoid further action.

OSHC Permanent Bookings: Existing and new families please ensure that you have completed and returned your new yearly booking forms to the service to ensure that you can secure a spot for your child/children before and after school. Please be aware that bookings do not roll over from the previous year. Enrolments forms are available from the service and via the schools website.

Receptions: Receptions and new children attending our service will be collected from their classrooms by an educator wearing a yellow vest and carrying Freddy the Fish (our rainbow fish) for the first 4 weeks of Term 1. This will encourage children to gain independence and confidence as they begin their transition into school routine. Parents please remind your children and their teachers if they will be attending OSHC in the afternoons.

Medications: If your child requires medication please ensure that you have provided an action plan as well as the medication (asthma pump, epipen etc.) to the service. It is vital that we have access to your child’s medication at our service whilst your child is attending.

Hats: As part of our sun safety policy all children are required to wear a hat if they are playing outside. Please remind your child/children to bring their hats from their classroom if they are attending the service.

Absentees: A reminder to all parents and caregivers to contact the service on 8443 5308 if their child(ren) are no longer attending their sessions or have been collected early from school. If both parents and caregivers cannot be reached the police will be contacted.

Active After School: If your child is going to attend an after school activity please notify the service in advance. If our Educators have not been notified by parents/caregivers the children will be unable to leave the service.

Dietary Requirements: At our service we aim to cater to children’s needs as much as possible, however, if your child has specific dietary requirements or does not like the food programmed for the day please pack an alternative snack or drop off food alternatives at the service.

Emails:  Emails to the Director will be only attended between the hours of 8.00am- 4.00pm on Monday to Friday. If the matter is urgent please contact the service between 7am-6.00pm on 8443 5308 or 0411 236 014

Thank you
