TIRKANDI  LIBRARY  NEWS

Term 1, Week 2

Hello to the Lockleys North Primary School community! I am pleased to be managing Tirkandi (the library) for Term 1. It has been a rewarding few weeks as I have met staff and many of our students who have made me feel very welcome. I look forward to sharing your child’s reading journey and working closely with staff and parents to ensure that students are enriched with the joy of books and love for reading during their primary education. Please feel welcome to pop into Tirkandi before school from 8.30am or after school until 3.30pm on my working days, Thursdays and Fridays to introduce yourself and make use of the resources we have available.

2019 PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE

The 2019 Premier’s Reading Challenge has now begun and students are able to obtain a PRC sheet from their teacher, or download the attached document.  A Premier’s Reading Challenge information booklet is also attached for parents of particularly new students.

PRC Year Levels:

In our Library, PRC books have colour stickers on them relative to student year levels: (ie. Rec – Yr 2 = red / Yr 3-5 = green / Yr 6-7 = blue).  You can choose a book from a higher year level, but ask your teacher for advice. You can also choose a book that is not on the list, but remember you must choose at least 8 of your 12 books from the PRC reading list.

Students are only required to do one sheet to gain an award … the PRC will finish on 6th September 2019.
