Principal's message

Dear Parents/Carers,

BOOK WEEK

We have had a very exciting book week. During Book Week Danielle Toone and myself have been reading to classes which have been randomly drawn. It’s great to get into the classes and read to the students and to hear their stories. Other highlights include the dress up day parade and the disco which we are very much looking forward to on Friday night. If you haven’t already done so, please book your child’s place on Compass. Thank-you to all parents for supporting your children with the dress ups. They looked fantastic and it is a fun way to celebrate reading which is so vital to the students’ learning. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the fundraising committee for their work organising the disco and other events at our school. We certainly could not run our events without them.

ASSEMBLY

We are returning to whole school assemblies this week which is very pleasing. Parents are welcome but please wear masks where possible. We feel that we have passed the worst of this covid/flu wave but we re-iterate that if your child is unwell please keep them at home and let the school know. We never know when the next wave of illness will crop up but we have covid-safe strategies in place to mitigate against large outbreaks.

SAFETY TRAVELLING TO AND FROM SCHOOL

It’s a timely reminder that all children need to be careful in transit to and from school. Whether children are travelling on buses, bikes or on foot the message is clear that all safety rules must be obeyed. Road rules, bus rules and regulations cannot be compromised. We reinforce this message at school and would appreciate your support at home. We need to also impress upon parents that it’s very busy at school drop off and collection time. Please take extreme care in your vehicles around our school.

DEAKIN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

We are very fortunate to have student teachers from Deakin University at school this week. Chelsea Eagle, Madeleine Fedley and Jessica Ljubic have been fortunate enough to even go on an excursion with our Prep's.

The student teachers learn so much about their craft when in class working with experienced mentors and the children. We wish them all the best with this placement and for the remainder of their studies.

Have a great weekend everyone!
