Year 8 Art

Cross-Curricular Project: English meets Art

This term in Year Art 8 we have been making small sculptures based on an adaptation of a Fairytale written in English last term (Term 2).

They have learnt about the style and work of the Melbourne based artist Shaun Tan and his ‘Singing Bones’ text. This text has a vast number of small sculptures which are a visual representation of the text in the book.

The task required students to select a character or item from their adaptation that can be made from polymer clay. The sculpture is a visual representation of their written tale, bringing the story to life. This allows for deeper understanding and connection to learning in 2 subject areas, bringing English and Art together.
