The Cosmodome at Vermont

This week all the year 7 students got to go inside a Cosmodome. I really enjoyed this experience and loved learning about how the earth was created. We also learned how the seasons change the amount of sunlight we get each day, the planets in our solar system, and the star signs. It was an amazing learning experience that the school has provided for us, thanks VSC. Of course, it all started with a big bang!

The Cosmodome incursion for Physics was certainly a unique, and engaging session. My first impressions of the Cosmodome were quite ambiguous, however stepping into the dome, I felt as if I had entered a whole new world. The Cosmodome projected a series of detailed, yet easy to understand videos onto the dome’s inner surface.

Accompanied with voiceovers, I was able to better understand the concepts I was otherwise confused with, all while enjoying an amusing surreal experience. As a student, I felt that the Cosmodome incursion was very efficient in terms of teaching. It was certainly different from what I was used to, but I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Unit 3 Biology

Over the past three weeks all Unit 3 Biology classes have been performing a series of experiments in order to investigate how factors such as temperature and substrate concentration can impact the rate of the cellular processes, Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. This set of experiments will form the basis of our upcoming SAC, which is all about Scientific Method.  We have enjoyed putting on the lab coats and doing some “real science” in our Biology classes.
