College Open Evening

Pizza Oven

THE PIZZA OVEN

Hi to all. Hoping you and your families are well.

While the Pizza Oven has been around for some time now, I was warmed most recently by the efforts and enthusiasm of many during our recent firing on Open Night last month. It’s important to note that while I might do my little bit to action it’s use, It’s the sum total of all the parts. So many people get involved every time then Pizza Oven fires up at ESC.

Thank you so very much to our students who volunteered their free time, working together across year levels, creating a strong sense of community. The capacity to foster leadership, teambuilding, and responsibility happens effortlessly. It’s great to see our new college values of RESPECT, RESILIENCE AND CARE in action.

Thank you to Angelo for sharing his experience in preparation the pizza bases and giving his wisdom and expertise. Angelo is the proud father of Mr Care, one of our teachers at the college. At 73 years of age Angelo has managed Pizza restaurants for over 50 years and on several occasions served over 500 pizzas in one evening. A real character, great sense of humour (much better than mine) but that’s not hard to do.

Thank you also to Mr Vogdanis and Ms Neri who stole the show. They made making, cooking, cutting and serving seem effortless during the evening. Hoping I haven’t missed any of the freeloaders who appeared out of nowhere in support.

Thanks to the students most importantly for stepping up. You set up made, cut, served and packed up from 3:00pm to 7:30pm with enthusiasm and maturity.

Apologies if I’ve missed out on a few late entries.
