Wilson Day 2023

On Thursday last week, the school celebrated Wilson Day. Our theme was ‘Country and Wilson’ and we encouraged students to wear something country and western themed for the day. It was great to see so many people walking around with cowboy hats, boots, big belts and checked shirts. At lunchtime we sold strawberries and ice cream before enjoying a line-dance led by Miss Smith, Mrs O’Donnell and Grace Franzinelli.

Approximately 150 students and staff joined in, to Boot Scootin’ Baby, which was quite a spectacle! In total, we raised just over $1,000 to donate to our charities, Young House and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Random Acts of Kindness – Harry Perkins and Flynn Huntley

On Wednesday 24 May the students participating in the Random Acts of Kindness VACS programme were making origami to distribute between random students’ lockers to brighten the everyday lives of students here at GSG.

When interviewed, Mrs Henderson said she was passionate about this programme and was looking forward to helping the veterans and their families in the Albany At Ease programme. This programme is an initiative that the school is taking part in to help the veterans of Albany and their families and help brighten their lives.

Kingfisher Fair Planning – Adalyn Sharpe, Max Cruse, Leo Payne and Ben Hannig

At the Kingfisher organisation event, my group and I started to plan some stalls for the Kingfisher Fair event. We designed drink stalls including lemonade and smoothie drinks. I really enjoyed planning for this event as the GSG community will benefit hugely from the amazing drinks and food we will provide.

Boarding Projects – Tom North and Oliver Price

This week we interviewed the boarding clean-up group. This week they were cleaning and tidying up one of the boarding yards when we were there. Finn Thomas and Saleem McNaught were digging up the grass on the edge to make the grass cover the whole area, some others were also cleaning up the trees.
