National Boarding Week

This week we celebrate National Boarding Week, a time dedicated to recognising and appreciating the invaluable role that boarding schools play in the holistic development of students. Boarding at GSG offers a nurturing environment where students learn independence, resilience and adaptability preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of adulthood. One defining characteristic is the fostering of a diverse community. Students from various cultures and geographic backgrounds come together under one roof creating many ideas, perspectives and experiences. This diversity enriches the education journey, promotes cultural understanding, empathy and global citizenship. One of the greatest benefits of boarding school life is the formation of lifelong friendships. We extend our appreciation to the boarding house staff who are the unsung heroes and work tirelessly behind the scenes, building homes away from home and creating a nurturing environment where students can thrive.

25th Anniversary Photo

On Monday, students formed the number 25 on the school oval to symbolise 25 years of education, experiences,  growth and friendships that have shaped the lives of over 3,000 students. The photo reflects the celebration, triumphs of achievements and the laughter of belonging. When we look upon this photograph we are reminded of the milestones achieved in the development of Great Southern Grammar, we are filled with gratitude to all those who have been involved with GSG and we cherish the connections we still have.

25th Anniversary Celebration Weekend

The arrangements for the 25th anniversary celebrations on 9 and 10 June are well underway.

The Foundation Assembly on Friday 9 June at 1.00pm will be an opportunity to welcome back many guests including the inaugural Principal, school founders, alumni, foundation students, and parents. We have experienced significant interest from many community members wishing to attend this event. All parents are welcome to this event, which will be followed by the Running of the Flags.

On the Saturday afternoon, the school will host a Saturday Session which is an opportunity for our music alumni to regroup and relive their GSG musical experience. Again, I’ve been impressed with the number of former students wishing to come back to GSG. If you’re interested in this event, please contact Director of Music, Emma Luxton.

The weekend festivities will conclude on Saturday evening with the Foundation Cocktail Party at the Princess Royal Sailing Club from 6.00pm. This will provide an opportunity for parents to mingle and socialise. Under the direction of Foundation Chair, Mr Gary Philpott, a raffle and auction will be held on the night, along with a few more surprises. Only 50 tickets remain for purchase, and I encourage parents to form a group to be part of this historical night.

Tickets are $50 per person which includes canapes, beer, wine and soft drink.  Please book your tickets by 27 May.
