Captain's Corner

Wow, this term has been wonderful as we have been reaching for the stars since we got back into our routine! These past few weeks have been productive, immersive and fun-filled with lots of learning. I am truly impressed on how much we students have grown in the process of 1, 2…wait, 2 terms only?! Of course, our amazing school would be to blame. Can’t exactly beat around the bush for that one. As I said before, these few weeks have been prolific!

On 24th of May, our school participated in National Simultaneous Story-time. Every grade read the book ‘The Speedy Sloth’ and used their metacognition and knowledge to analyse the text as a group. The heart-warming story was a good read for everyone, including teachers, and I think we can all agree that the sloth is a pretty fast sloth.

This week, our school is celebrating Education Week. We started off by completing the same home learning task which involved each student creating a brain break game and then we shared it with our buddy class. Now, we are also doing another exciting initiative, every day during Education Week, each class will be using one of these games during our brain breaks, pretty compelling, huh?

Yesterday, 17 of our students participated in the Waverley-Monash Division cross country. They represented our school with pride and joy, and did it to the best of their abilities. Good job and well done to all these amazing students! We all are mighty proud of you guys!

As well as that, on the same day (31st of May) the Grade Sixes put their scientists’ brains on and were whisked to Scienceworks, where they learnt about space and all it’s different sectors, like exploration, technology etc. They were respectful and responsible, and represented our school with pride.

Tomorrow, the Year Six’s will be participating in the Winter Inter-School Sports. For some students, this may be their first time competing in a sport outside of the gym, so make sure to wish them the best of luck on the upcoming event!

Whew! This past fortnight has been another crazy, exhilarating and amazing few weeks of learning. Then again, aren’t they all? I can already see, as we close into the last few weeks of this term, that the remainder of the year is going to be just as spectacular, or even more glorious than the first. I can’t wait to see what’s around the corner.

Thank you for reading.
