Year 5/6 Mainstream/Ste–Celebrating Learning

Camp - Blurb

The 5/6’s have returned from an exciting 3 days at camp in Phillip Island. It was a fun and busy time as students participated in a variety of activities and experiences throughout their stay.

We had the opportunity to see and interact with some of Australia’s unique flora and fauna at the Maru Koala & Wildlife Park, Penguin Parade and the Koala Conservation Reserve.

At the beach the students had a surfing lesson, quickly picking up some fundamentals and practising in the surf. They also competed in some ten pin bowling, laser tag, pool and table tennis.

Before heading back to Thornbury, we visited the island’s Chocolate factory where we sampled the chocolate, learned about the process of chocolate making and played some of their onsite games.

The 5/6’s were complemented for the friendly, polite and respectful way that they conducted themselves while away. Many showing how caring and resilient they could be. They did a brilliant job working together, forging new friendships and looking out for each other.

A big thank you to all involved in getting this camp off the ground, especially Jasmine for coordinating and attending, our ES - Hayley, Margaret, Owen, Bethany and our wonderful parent helpers Brooke, Tony and David. Without you this amazing experience would not be possible.

Many Thanks.
