Attendance
Our college has a new and updated sign in / sign out system called “Kiosk”.
This is in the Attendance Office, in the Administration Building.
All students and visitors to the college are now required to use this system.
All College Students and Staff will be given an Identification Card, which can also be used to sign in and out of our Kiosk.
All students from Years 7-11 are required to have a parent sign them out, if leaving early.
Thank you,
Sonia Raschilla, First Aid & Attendance Officer
First Nations group
WHC's First Nations students got together this week for their regular meeting. Pictured are Archie and Aiden working at laminating NAIDOC Week posters during Tuesday's meeting.
NAIDOC Week will run from 2-9 July this year. Celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

State Schools Spectacular students have been busy rehearsing each Tuesday lunchtime trying to perfect seven intricate dances. They have attended two regional rehearsals hosted in our Performing Arts Centre where Manifold Heights, Hamlyn Heights, Mandama and Northern Bay College attended. Maths Competition
The University of Melbourne mathematics competition was run two weeks ago with 13 students from Years 7 - 10 accepting the 2-3 hour problem-solving challenge. This involves some of the highest level of mathematical thinking to come to solutions, without notes or a calculator, with marks focusing on the way students solved the problems.
Below is a question from the junior category for a challenge at home!
QUESTION: A number is called funny if all of its digits are different, it does not contain the digit zero, and its last digit is the sum of all of its other digits. What is the largest funny number?

SSV Barwon Division Athletics
On 4 May, a group of over 120 students competed at Landy Field in the Barwon Division Athletics. This competition is between six schools - the day was a success with Landy Field being filled with cheers of support from students in surrounding Geelong schools. WHC students participated with a sheer desire to win and great sportsmanship. Those who weren’t competing provided support to fellow students and to staff on events.

As a school we came in 4th for the overall aggregate. This has once again allowed us to win the “most improved school” for the second year running! Well done to our WHC competitors for this success!
A very special thank you goes to the staff and parents that gave up their time on the day. This is always appreciated and is the reason why we have been able to consider this event a success from the WHC perspective.
