Japanese Calligraphy Art

People in Japan learn ‘shodo’ Japanese calligraphy from childhood in order to write beautiful characters by using brush and ink.

Some Year 9 and 10 students enjoyed experiencing the traditional Japanese art of ‘shodo’.

Students were taught that by sitting or standing straight in a good posture, and writing not only their fingers but with their entire body. It is very hard to use the brush for someone who have never experienced but by practicing many times, students became used to it and learnt to express characters in their own unique way.

Japanese calligraphy is recognized as a high art. Check out their beautiful art work displayed at the hallway near the Kings Park front office.
