Alumni Program Coordinator Connecting With Our Frankston High School Alumni Community!
In February this year we launched the Frankston High School Alumni program, which is being developed in partnership with Ourschool, www.ourschool.net.au, a not-for-profit service that helps government secondary schools build their alumni communities.
The Frankston High School Alumni program aims to inspire and motivate students, enrich curriculum, give students real-world examples of careers, and bring contemporary industry experience/connections into our school. It is designed to benefit students and teachers and provide alumni with meaningful ways to ‘give back’ to their high school and support students. We have connected with close to 250 past students in the past few months and word is spreading about the alumni community and opportunities to support current students at Frankston High School.
The primary focus of the program is to invite alumni back to school, to speak to students in classes/year levels, to give students an opportunity to learn about the jobs that former students are doing, their study habits, further education, the skills required to do their job and to give students a forum to interact with alumni and ask questions. We have developed an alumni database; a list of past students who are keen supporters and willing to come back to school to speak to students and we’re in the process of planning sessions for Term 3, in different areas of the school.
We have established a Facebook page; Frankston High School Alumni, which allows followers to keep up to date with key school events and is a great forum to communicate alumni opportunities. We also share photos from through the years, as a fun way to reminisce and engage with the alumni community. We have also set up a dedicated LinkedIn group for Frankston High School Alumni, to facilitate easy connection with us in a professional setting and to communicate alumni session opportunities.

It is a great way to keep in touch, be part of the school community, stay connected to the people you have been to school with and it’s an opportunity to give back to current students!
