From the Principal

Dear MPS Families

I am writing a brief newsletter today as I’ve just returned from the most enjoyable camp experience with the year 6’s. We had perfect weather, amazing accommodation, food that the kids couldn’t get enough of and everyone laughing and enjoying each other’s company.

SCHOOL PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT (Mon 29 May 6:30 – 8:00pm)

Our four year School Strategic Plan is drawing to a close this year and in term 4, our school will be reviewed. We would like to invite our parent community to share with you the mission we are working toward, the actions we are taking to get us there and why this is so important and also inviting your feedback.

If you haven’t already booked your place, please refer to the compass post for the Try Booking details. This is your opportunity to see how schooling is changing to prepare students of today in readiness for their tomorrow.

ATTENDANCE

Every day at school counts, but we understand when there are reasons for absence. It is vital that parents use the correct code on compass.  There should be a reason for the absence. If you choose ‘parent choice’ please also explain why the child was away (or email the teacher with the reason.). Our absence data is reviewed by the Education Department and we are asked to follow up on the reasons for the ‘parent choice’ option.

Your support with this would be appreciated.

PLAYGROUND CHANGES

At our school, students are invited to be active participants in their school including with decision making. The recent playground changes have resulted from student feedback. With prep to year 2 students having the entire oval to themselves at recess and year 3 – 6 having the oval at lunch, we have had less students attend the first aid room from being hit by flying balls. An incidental bonus to the change has been the opportunity to play other games (not on the oval) and often with different people.

TOYS TO PLAY WITH IN THE YARD

We are now looking for donations of toys, old dress up clothes etc that we can place in various spots around the school to add variety and interest in the yard.

Donations can be brought to the office.

ADDRESSING CONCERNS

Finally, thank you to our wonderful parent community for sharing feedback and perspectives in a respectful way. We can only address issues if we know about them, but please remember, if it involves something in the classroom, your teacher is the person to contact but if it involves something in the yard, then please contact the school through the school email.
