Principal's Report

Carly Avery

Dear Parents and Friends,

Congratulations to Isabel L and Cleaver G on presenting their speeches on Sunday in the Lions Club public speaking competition. This consisted of presenting to judges and competing against students from other local schools. They spoke with confidence and represented St. Joseph’s with pride. Well done to Isabel who came runner up in the Year 3/4 section and Cleaver who took out the Year 5/6 competition. Cleaver will move on to the next round in August.

Tonight we have a number of students undertaking the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. I ask you to keep these students in your prayers.

I recently received a letter from the Bendigo Bank with the great news that we were successful in our recent grant application. They are donating a very generous $5000 to go towards our outdoor seating and tables! We will invite a representative from Bendigo Bank this term and be able to thank them personally.

NO SUSHI ORDERS THIS WEEK- Back on board next week from a holiday!

Celebrating Mary of the Cross MacKillop

On Monday 8th August we are celebrating the Feast of St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Mary is our first Australian Saint and dedicated herself to providing education, shelter, food and comfort to people and families in need. Her motto was "Never see a need without doing something about it". At St. Joseph's we try to live this out by the way that we treat people around us, both here at school and in the broader community.

To celebrate her life we are having a special Mass at 9 am in the Church. Everyone is invited to attend and to come to the Morning Tea afterwards. If you would like to come, just ring the office so that we can cater for the food.

Any inquiries, just see Linda, Mardy or Irene.
