Performing Arts

Ms Stanton

Howdy all,

The term has just started but we’re already hitting the ground running: we’ve held our first 'read through' rehearsal for the school concert, Trinity Primary: Offline and Onstage. The concert, aside from being the perfect opportunity for students to showcase their talent, teamwork, and tenacity, is also a great way for students to practically apply the different skills they’ve been learning in Performing Arts.

Through a combination of acting, singing and dancing, Trinity Primary students will bring the world of the Notnats family (a world similar to ours, but with a lot more people spontaneously breaking out into song and dance) to life. Last week we began with ensemble exercises, emphasising once again the most important element of any production: working together.

This week, as each class embarks on learning and rehearsing their class numbers, they will not only be stepping into the role of performer but will also have opportunities to contribute to choreography, create props and act as audience members and helpers to other classes. Across all grades, we will be working on exploring and expressing ideas through dance movements, allowing students to create and incorporate their original choreography into their class numbers. In these numbers students will combine drama and dance practices to add depth to the story being told through the script and through the music. It’s going to be a challenging few weeks ahead as we prepare and put together the variety of moving parts needed for a successful show, but, as always, I have no doubt that Trinity Primary learners are more than capable of meeting it. See y’all for a fantastic evening of acting, song, and dance at Hawthorn Town Hall on August 31st!

A student in Prep RT performs without words in front of classmates to get them to guess what she did during term holidays. This encourages students to sustain a role and situation that can speak a story to an audience.

Students in 5/6FA work together to create tableaus of common fairytales. This exercise encourages students to work as a team to create a single image that tells a story to the audience involved. Can you guess what fairytale these students are showing?
