STEM-Urban Microbat Box Celebration Night

Years 3 & 4

STEM Urban Microbat Box project Celebration Night – Years 3 & 4

A huge F.P.S thank you to families who were able to attend the Microbat box project celebration evening. It was a wonderful turnout with just over sixteen families attending. Vicki and I would like to thank the Year 3s and 4s who came long and did a brilliant job of sharing the project and their learning with their families. Each family received a flyer of fascinating microbat facts created by our students as well as a nocturnal animal ID chart which all year 3s and 4s will receive.  We are so very proud of all the Year 3s and 4s for their work throughout the project in our STEM sessions.

A very special thank you to local author and environmentalist Harry Sadler for attending to talk about local biodiversity with a special focus on Melbourne’s microbats. Thank you Harry for leading the spotlighting session which was so informative. F.P.S appreciated you volunteering your time to attend the evening and share your knowledge of microbats. Students enjoyed testing our new spotlighting torches and the bat detector tech device.

Thank you again for your support of this project to attract, monitor and care for native microbats in Fitzroy which will continue into the future.

Thanks to Yarra City Council for supporting F.P.S with a Sustainability Grant for the project.
