Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

We are already at the end of Week 3 and well and truly into the swing of what is always known as the busy term, Term 3!

Our Grade 5 and 6 students participated in their school camp last week, we have our Grade 3 and 4 students heading off on their camp on Monday as well as 100 days of Prep next Friday.

In terms of what is going on back here at school, our students have certainly hit the ground running; across the school when I walk around I see such committed learners engaged in such high quality lessons. This is credit to staff and students alike!

Please keep an eye on Compass as well as the newsletter for all of our upcoming events and activities.

Welcome Brooke!

We are very fortunate to be able to welcome a new member to our Administration Team in the office. Brooke Stephens has recently joined us in the Receptionist role.

Please say hello to Brooke when you are next in the office and welcome her to the ACS Community!

100 Days of Prep

Book Week

Each year since 1945 the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time, schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.

This year, book week will be celebrated from Monday the 22nd until Friday the 26th of August and this years theme is 'Dreaming With Eyes Open'.

On Friday the 26th we will have a book week dress up day. For more information on CBCA Book Week, visit their website: https://www.cbca.org.au/cbca-book-week.

Prep Storytime Sessions

We are excited to start our Prep transition story time sessions for our students and families beginning with us in Prep 2023. There will be 3 sessions over the remainder of Term 3 where one of our amazing Prep teachers will lead the children through a story and related activity.

These sessions are designed to support our newest students in being comfortable and ready for our formal transition sessions in Term 4 and for our teachers to begin building relationships with students and families.

The Prep Storytime sessions are for students who are enrolled in Prep at Armstrong Creek School in 2023. If you are yet to formalise your child's enrolment please fill out the expression of interest form on the school website and our Enrolment Officer will make contact shortly.

All details regarding times and dates will be sent directly to families in the lead up to the sessions.

We look forward to seeing all our newest students and their families in the coming weeks.

Creek Coin Reward

Billy has earnt a 'Red Star Reward' with 20 Creek Coins for showing Care, Commitment and Collaboration throughout the day especially Care as he is a kind friend who helps others.

Billy has chosen to have his name put in the newsletter as his reward.

Well done Billy!

Covid-19

All families should have received their additional RATs this week. If you have not yet received these, please see your child's home group teacher.

We are constantly adapting to the advice from the Victorian Department of Health and the Department of Education to minimise the risk of exposure to COVID-19. A reminder to parents/carers to contact the office if a student has tested positive. It is a requirement for students who test positive to isolate for 7 days.

Students who are a household contact of a new COVID-19 case, must follow the rules for household contacts.  As part of this they must take 5 rapid antigen tests (RATs) over 7 days and receive negative test results and wear a face mask (if over 8 years old) in indoor spaces.

The Victorian Department of Health has mandated face masks for those aged 8 and over who are household contacts and attending school.  Previous exemption rules apply. If you have not previously informed the school of your child's exemption, or if their exemption status has changed recently, please advise the school administration so we can record this. As we have throughout COVID, we will continue to support students with this change.
