STEAM News

Last week, Year 1 students used 2D shapes to make a range of dinosaurs. They then created their own dinosaurs and enjoyed tracing around them on paper.

Year 2 students have been learning about life cycles and this week looked at the now endangered Monarch butterfly. Some students then used Quiver, an augmented reality app to see their drawing of the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly come to life.

Year 3 students were challenged to make a house using only 6 index cards and absolutely no glue or tape. Their houses had to have 4 walls, a roof and at least one door. They all rose to the challenge, and some even made gardens and cubby houses!

Year 6 students were challenged to build the tallest structure possible using 10 pieces of spaghetti and 5 marshmallows. This cooperative challenge ensured students worked together to construct a tower which was well balanced and was able to stand up straight.

Also, a big thank you to everyone who came through the STEAM room on our recent STEAM night. It was wonderful to see the students showing their parents their work and pointing out various things in the room.
