Stephanie Ingram (7 Aherne) and Henry Allan (8 Jones)

Congratulations to Stephanie Ingram and Henry Allan who won gold at the Shepparton Short Course Swimming event. Henry won the male 14 and over 100m breaststroke and Stephanie won the female 12-13 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, female 13 and under 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle.

Hunter Wright (9 Aherne)

Congratulations to Hunter Wright who has been selected to represent Victoria in football (AFL) at the School Sport Australia Championships from 23 to 30 July in Lavington, NSW.

Hunter will play alongside teammates from all over Victoria in the Team Vic (School Sport Victoria) 15 years and under category.

 

Hunter participated in a formal trial process to be selected to represent Team Vic and we wish him all the very best.

 

Christian Iuliano (11 Millward)

Congratulations to Christian Iuliano for competing at the recent National Lacrosse Championships.

 

Christian represented Victoria in the Under 18 Men's team, which competed at the national championships in Adelaide, during the July school holidays.

 

Christian’s team finished the championships in 3rd place.

 

 

Joshua Perry (11 Riley)

 

Congratulations to Josh Perry who competed in the Victorian Teams State Badminton Championships in Kilsyth on 25th June where he played against some of the state’s best. 

 

Girton Students who participated in Shrek The Musical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 

 

Following their spectacular performances in Girton’s Strictly Ballroom at the end of last term, some of our intrepid drama and tech students took part in the production of Shrek with Nexus Bendigo Youth Theatre last week.

 

Nexus Bendigo Youth Theatre is a program designed for young people in Years 7 – 12 in the Bendigo Region to come together and celebrate the Performing Arts. Five Girton students performed in Shrek and two members of our tech team have received an Audio/Visual traineeship through a grant obtained by Nexus from The City of Greater Bendigo.

Congratulations to Tom Marchant who performed in the Bendigo Theatre Company's production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

 

 

Alessia McCaig (Riley, 2021) and Jenna Strauch (Jenkin, 2015)

 

Good luck to our 2021 School Vice Captain, Alessia McCaig, who starts competing today in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games in cycling.

 

Alessia will compete in four events commencing with the Women’s Team Sprint qualification. If successful, she will compete in the finals with the medal ceremony on Friday at 10 am UK time (from 7 pm AEST).

 

The Women’s Sprint is from 10 am Saturday (from 7 pm AEST) with qualification, 1/8 finals, 1/4 finals, semi-finals and finals depending on each performance.

 

Best of luck to Jenna Strauch, who will be competing in swimming.  Jenna will compete in the 50m breaststroke heats 7.30-9.30 pm tonight and if she qualifies will compete in the semi-finals on Saturday 4 am-7 am.
