The Girton Tigers are a relatively inexperienced team, with many players new to the game but that certainly didn’t stop us. We had an almost perfect season, losing only one game and forfeiting another. We finished on top of the ladder in a pool of 3 other teams including another Girton team and two other BSE teams.

On the night of the grand final, we were all filled with adrenaline and some more nervous than others. The points scored at the beginning of the game were very even with us scoring one then BSE scoring one and so on. Until we got into a rhythm and had the momentum shifting in our favour to keep scoring. We ended up winning the first set 11-25 and that settled the nerves for those who still had them. We then won the second set which meant we had won the grand final! 

Both teams played really well but at the end of the day we came out on top. A special mention to our amazing coach Ms Monaghan, who didn’t miss a single game and always made sure our team was organised and well supported. Other thanks to Mrs Tunzi who’s worked harder than anyone else running training every week. Thanks to all the other coaches, Ms Shiralee Spain, plus Issy St Clair and Maddie Dole, our amazing school volleyball captains who always showed up to training to help run drills to make us better and improve week in week out. Thank you all for an amazing autumn season can’t wait for the next one.
