INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

DISCO BINGO

Well, I did not expect to be up doing the YMCA at my first fundraiser at South Melbourne Park, but there I was! I did have to hand the prize over to Steve Miles though, who was the standout winner of the dance off! What a great night we all had. It was so lovely to see so many families, friends and staff looking very glamorous and having so much fun. We are indebted to Sarah-Jane for so capably taking the lead in organizing the event. Thank you also  to Steve, Jo, Scott, Sonia, Claudette, Michael, Matt, Lynn and Stuart for giving their time and making it a night to remember. We are also very grateful to have such generous families and local businesses who supported the event by donating auction items.  If you’re interested in supporting the organisation of up-coming school community events, please let the office staff know and we will connect you with our Families & Friends president, Steve Miles.

VISION

I have been circling back to our school vision to further unpack our staff’s joint understanding of its meaning. Teachers, classroom-based Education Support staff and Administration staff, have all offered great insights into how we are embodying the school’s vision. I am feeling very fortunate to be leading a school where our community is committed to the vision and values that underpin our work. As I spend time in classrooms, it is evident that the vision is truly being lived, with curiosity around every corner.

SCHOOL DROP OFF AND PARKING

A reminder to parents and carers that many of our children and families cross the service road at the front of the school when walking each morning and afternoon. Please be extra vigilant and only use this as a drop off zone if disabled parking is required. We must also be considerate of our neighbours when parking in local streets. There have been occasions when driveways have been blocked.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY

We have a Professional Practice Day (PP Day) coming up on Friday, September 2nd. The Department has recognised the difficulty in sourcing casual relief teachers to enable release time, and have agreed to a joint PP Day, where students will not attend school. This day will see our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) planning learning units for the term ahead. This is incredibly important to ensure consistency of practice across classrooms.
