Tirkandi News

Term 3 Week 2

Library Building Update

As said in previous newsletters I will be showing updates on how the re-organisation of Tirkandi is going. Below are some pictures of the new plants, pillows and furniture placement that has happened so far. More to come as I continue to update the library, such as new series, some more little reading spaces for students and artwork displayed on the pin boards!

Book Series of the Week

Every week in the Tirkandi a new series will be on display to help expose students to all different kinds of books.

Week 1 had the Enid Blyton books on display.

This collection included the famous five books. Which is about a group of teenagers exploring their town and uncovering different mysteries.

Week 2 had the Ella and Olivia series. These books follow these two sisters through all different learning experiences.  It shows how they work together as big and little sister and how even though they might face problems or conflict, their is always a solution!

Books can be kept for a maximum of 2 weeks. All that is required for borrowing is a library bag (for Reception, Year 1/2) and no overdue books. Students are encouraged to manage their own library bag and to borrow regularly.

Returns

Students can either place books they want to return in their classroom library box, directly into the green returns box in the Tirkandi library.

Overdue, Lost or Damaged Books

The school library policy for overdue, lost or damaged books has been updated. A library book that has been overdue / lost for 2 weeks or more or damaged, there will now be a fee of $15; however, if the book is found or returned you will be reimbursed the full amount. Students will be unable to borrow until the book(s) are returned or the payment is made. The money goes towards replacing that book.
