Principal's Update

Hi everyone,

I’d like to reflect on what an amazing start we had as a school last week. Firstly, I’d like to thank all of the parents, students and teachers that represented our school at the ANZAC day ceremony. I was proud to see a large contingent in green and gold! It was fantastic to see that our families value the importance of such a day.

Further to this, I’d like to congratulate the Cobram Secondary College for the service they provided on Friday. Our 5/6 students and teachers were lucky enough to attend on the day. At the service the students learnt about the people that our school houses were named after being Shadforth, Rose, Jordan and Goodman and the sacrifices they made. We were also proud to see some former Cobram Primary students speaking so brilliantly. Kimberley and the team should be proud of the service they conducted.

NAPLAN

Next week is NAPLAN week. I know that most parents are accustomed to the NAPLAN assessments these days.  However, I really want to be sure that all parents and families remember that this is just another assessment.  Your children complete assessment tasks for their teachers all the time.  This shouldn’t be made out to be any more important than those tasks.  We DO NOT want children to be stressing or worrying about the NAPLAN tests.  As long as they give the assessment tasks their best efforts, we are happy. That’s all we can ever ask.

5/6 Camp

Today the 5/6 students are heading off to Bendigo for their school camp. They’re all brimming with excitement to hit the road and I’m sure they’ll have a mountain of fun. I’ll have a recap of the camp in the next newsletter.

Cross Country

Our annual Cross Country will be held this Friday 6th May. All students will compete in their age group. Students aged 6, 7 and 8 years will run 1 klm and 9, 10, 11 and 12 year olds run 2 klm. All families are invited to come along to Thompson's Beach and cheer the students along. Further details about times are listed on the 'Whats Happening' page.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

This Friday, 6th May, we are holding a Mother's Day Breakfast from 8 am to 8:45 am. We will be serving pancakes with jam and cream, tea and coffee at the canteen. We look forward to seeing all the mums and special guests.

Thanks,

Claye Runnalls
