Year Six News

Written by the Year Five Team

Dear Year Six Families,

Welcome back to Term 2, and congratulations to our students for settling straight into your learning. We have continued with our focus and effort and look forward to another great term.

ANZAC Day Ceremony

Last week, our Year Six leaders commemorated ANZAC day with our entire school hosting a special assembly. A minute of silence was observed to remember and pay respect to those who were a part of the events. During our assembly, students participated in singing the New Zealand and Australian national anthem and laying wreaths.

We want to congratulate all our Year SIx leaders who presented respectfully and represented our school with the utmost pride.

Year Six Polo Shirts

Last week the students were excited with the arrival of our Year Six polo shirts. The shirt designed by Ansharah Sahito in 6D,  captures the essence of the students views of Saltwater College. The students may wear these on days that they have PE, Performing Arts and Friday. We look forward to seeing the students wear them with pride.

Unit of Inquiry - How the World Works

The students started our second Unit of Inquiry for the year with the provocation of making 'Oobleck'. This provoked students wonderings as they discussed how the different  forms were changing.

This week the students have investigated into the different states of matter and have enjoyed completing science experiments to explore and consolidate their understanding.  The students will soon be designing and testing their own science experiment exploring their wonderings.

We look forward to seeing them applying their research skills and creativity to explore new concepts.
