Year 8 Volleyball

Year 8 Volleyball Wednesday 30th March Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre

A great day was had by all competitors at the recent Year 8 Interschool Volleyball competition. I would like to thank the students for upholding the values of the college throughout the day, win, lose or draw. It was a delight to be out of the college with such a great bunch of students who conducted themselves with pride. The effort, encouragement and enthusiasm from each and every team member was outstanding and most impressive. Well done girls.

Summer Sport 2022

Tennis – Our Senior boys tennis team made it through to the NMR round earlier in the term and played this round last week. The boys had a superb day only dropping a few games and not dropping a single set. The boys will now progress onto the State Championships in Term 2.

The Year 7 and 8 boys’ team played some fantastic tennis and finished in second place. Our Year 8 girls team only had three players on the day but pushed through their games playing some great tennis and were crowned Division Champions. The girls will now go on to play in the NMR early next term.

Volleyball – Our Senior boys volleyball team made it through to the NMR round earlier in the term and played this round last week. Although the team played some great volleyball, unfortunately on the day they narrowly missed out on top spot and will not progress on to the State Championships.

Our Year 7 boys/mixed and girls’ teams played together for the first time, they both played 6 games on the day and finished in 3rd and 4th place respectively.

After a tough selection process for the Year 8 teams, they represented the school last week at the Whittlesea Division round. Both teams showed great teamwork throughout their 6 games and finished 3rd in the competition.

ESC Athletics Day

Monday 4th April marked the day of our annual ESC Athletics Day. Many students competed, some got dressed up and, others just enjoyed the day. Due to the events of COVID over the last two years, it was great to see many students attending and getting involved.

Whilst there was some heavy competition among the students in the sporting field, there was also competition in the costume field. The Year 12s had very creative costumes, worthy of high praise. Congratulations to all students who received ribbons for their sporting events.

Below are the house results from the day.

Tatlow - 243 points – 6th place

Findon - 306 points – 5th place

Scarborough - 377 points – 4th place

Carlisle - 378 points – 3rd place

Pindari - 410 points – 2nd place

Dalton - 509 points – 1st place

Thank you to all the staff and students for helping with Athletics Day 2022.

Well done to all the students who have represented the school so well in all the different events. Good luck to those who will be playing next term, keep up the good work!

Senior Golf Northern Metropolitan Region

On Monday 28th of March 2 Senior Epping Secondary College students Matthew Stingas and Thomas Anagnostellis represented the college at Golf Victoria’s Northern Metropolitan Region Golf competition. Unlike many regional events this golf competition was made up of students from both state and independent schools with many illustrious schools listed on the competition entry list.

It was a fantastic day for golf with warm overcast conditions greeting players upon arrival at Latrobe Golf club in Alphington. Matthew and Thomas teed up on separate holes and were paired with students from a variety of schools. The competition was played over 9 holes from the regular tee boxes with a par score being 35. Both boys played some fantastic shots throughout the round and represented the college in fine fashion. In a magnificent display Thomas Anagnostellis navigated his way around the course with skill and poise much beyond his years. On the final hole an elevated par 3 looking back to the club house Thomas struck an exquisite tee shot to within 8 foot of the hole causing much applause from the students gathered behind the hole who had finished their round. Although just missing the put for Birdie, Thomas would end his round with a superb even par 35. At the presentation ceremony would receive 1st place, 8 shots ahead of his closest competition. Thomas will now represent the college at the State Golf competition at Yarra Yarra golf club on Monday the 6th of June. We wish Thomas the best of luck!
