Middle Years News

Our Year 7-9 Middle school cohorts should be commended on a fantastic Term 1. The following provides a snapshot of some the highlights and achievements across the Middle School. Please keep an eye on future newsletters, and XUNO Events for upcoming opportunities for our Middle School.

Year 7 Parent Evening

A hugely successful evening where Year 7 students, parents and teachers enjoyed pizza and conversations to begin the journey in supporting our newest cohort of students.

Year 8 Student Leaders

Year 8 Leaders met with their year level coordinators to discuss how they can work to advocate for their cohorts, and work with their teachers to develop an engaging learning environment for the year 8 team.  Goals were set for their roles as leaders and the following were outlined as highlights for Term 1; being back at school onsite, participation in Inter-School Sport, learning about emotions in Health, cooking and preparing food in Food Tech, lunchtime badminton training, hands on tasks in IST, creating a business in Humanities and Athletics Day.

Year 9 Electives

An exciting term for our Year 9 cohort saw them embark on their elective subjects. Electives allow students to take ownership of their learning journey in a way that they have not experienced in Year 7 and 8 by selecting their subjects, and challenging themselves with new content and experiences. Some of the many highlights include Community Sport and Rec excursions to Leisure City and Ten Pin Bowling, Community Jobs Mill Park Police incursion and the numerous creations from our Community Baking team.

Life Skills Go

Teachers and students in our middle school have made a great start to their journey utilising the Life Skills Go program at the beginning of many of their lessons. The aim of the program is to allow students and teachers to recognise their emotions at the beginning of a session, and to be instantly guided through activities to regulate their emotions and be ready to learn.

Please enjoy your April school holidays and take the opportunity to refresh and reenergise by doing things you enjoy with your friends and family. Term 2 will provide more highlights and challenges (we need these to learn and evolve). Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their child to start the term with the correct uniform along with a strong commitment to attendance.
