Artist In Schools Project 2018

In 2017, as Arts/Technology Domain Leader I applied to the City of Whitehorse for funding for KSC to employ an Artist In School. KSC has been very fortunate and excited to have received generous  funding from the City of Whitehorse, Artist in Schools Program, KSC PFA, Johnson Tiles, Bunnings Nunawading and Jonathan Tickner (parent of Arjun Tickner), which has enabled my Year 9 Urban Art class  to complete two out of the four panels.

It has been a rewarding project where students have created images around the Koonung Creek trail. We were inspired by the indigenous flora, fauna, wildlife and the waterways of this rich environment.

David Foote, Arts Teacher, integrated the student’s images to create a powerful and visually stimulating design.

Over term 3, Deborah Amon Cotter, Sandy Angliss, myself and  the Year 9 Urban art class of

Sienna, Hana, Brody, Tara, Erika, Chloe, Joelle, Jackie, Evie, Dean, Linton, Molly, Holly, Bridie completed the two panel mural.

It is a spectacular and stunning mosaic mural that reflects and recognises our local native environment.

If you are keen to support us or know of anyone who can help fund the completion of this project please let us know. We have TWO more panels to complete!!

Many thanks to everyone who was involved with the project.
