Duke of Edinburgh’s Voluntary ‘Service’

Throughout this term the Year 11 and Year 12 VCAL students will be committing themselves to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Voluntary ‘Service’. The aim of the voluntary service is based on the belief that members of the community should care for each other and contribute to their community. The voluntary service involves a regular commitment averaging at least one hour per week. Examples of voluntary work includes helping with the Year 5/6 Interschool Sports Program, supporting and fundraising for charities, sport coaching and helping in external organisations. Previous College participants with the Duke of Edinburgh program have reflected that it was the voluntary service that gave them the most satisfaction. Students show regular commitment and effort but also learn from the experience.
