Year 10 Drama Victorian Theatre Festival

Passion, dedication, innovation and presence. 4 attributes the Year 10 Drama students had in abundance during the creation and performance of their show called "Mission 12".  CESC hosted the first Drama Victorian Theatre Festival for the South Eastern Cluster which included representatives from Drama Victoria, Monash University, Deakin University, La Trobe University and The University of Melbourne.

MISSION 12 was based between 1910-1970, when many Indigenous children were forcibly removed from their families as a result of various government policies. The generations of children removed under these policies became known as the Stolen Generations. This performance focused on the children in Mission 12 who were taught to live the “white” way. The children who were removed and taken to Mission 12, left a legacy of trauma and loss that continued to affect Indigenous communities, families and individuals.

The reviews are in and we have received some excellent feedback from those in the audience:

- "This was a seriously good show Year 10 team. Way above what I expected; and better, it made me think about things. Well done!!"

- "Well done to every Year 10 tonight...you did yourselves and our school proud...made me cry!!!"

- "Great performance. Touched me"

- "Omg that performance was absolutely incredible!!!!!!"

Yr9 Performing Arts Pathway

Primary School Visit

During week 7, the Year 9 Performing Arts Pathway students were privileged to visit Cranbourne East Primary School and work exclusively with them in their choir rehearsal. Throughout the visit, students workshopped dance, drama and music warm up activities and, as a result, engaged in meaningful relationships and developed their leadership skills.

The Pathway students will continue working with the feeder primary school throughout the year to create Performing Arts opportunities and build connections.

Featured above is a performance from "AT THE MOVIES", showcasing two of our Year 9 students performing a song they wrote called "IT". This song was created as part of their assessment where students had to write a song based on a stimulus.

On the 3rd of June, the school held a Free Dress Day to raise money for the school production which is We Will Rock You. The theme for this event was dress like a Rockstar in honour of the Rock ‘n’ Roll feels to a glorious band, Queen. As a whole school, we raised about $700 in total and the Homegroup that raised the most money was…12B! and they will be getting a free lunch as a reward. On the day, we also held an Open Mic, the theatre was packed full of both students and teachers to enjoy the wonderful show that was presented. We even had a teacher’s band!  Thank you to everyone who participated on this day in support of the school production.
