STUDENT SERVICES LEADER REPORT
BY DEBBIE EDWARDS
This is my final newsletter item as I am leaving Cranbourne East Secondary College to take up a new position elsewhere. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the many students and their family members that I have worked with over the last 31/2 years. It has been a privilege getting to know and understand the needs of our students and I wish everyone all the best in the future. I know I leave you all in the very capable hands of staff at CESC. I’m impressed with the dedication and support given to students by teachers and support staff, who work really hard to engage and help students in their time of need.
Wellbeing
During Term 2, the wellbeing team were busy being involved in many programs, including:-
- Breakfast Club
- Sporting Change
- City of Casey 360 bus
- 4Cs
- ILLY program for Year 7 students
- Wellbeing tips/support for senior students
- Year Level Health & Wellbeing days
- Aiming Higher mentor program
- Try Mentoring
The wellbeing team have now settled into the ‘Wellness Centre’ and are finalising the interior decorating! We are located behind orange portable 12 and the Doctor’s Clinic is next door.
We now have three mental health clinicians that students can access through school, under a mental health care plan. Clinicians are available each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Doctors in School program takes bookings for appointments each Monday. We also have a school lawyer that students can access at school each Wednesday. Both the Doctor and Lawyer bookings must be done by students, via compass and confirmation of appointment times will be texted to students.
I take this opportunity to sincerely thank the wellbeing team – Hayley Williams, Jacqueline Binns, Harlin Gandhok and Anna Syposs for all of their support and loyalty to me over the years. Bye CESC
Sporting change
Sporting change ran over terms 1 and 2 for students in year 9 and 10 where they participated in a range of activities including basketball, soccer, MMA, cricket and so many more. Students have the opportunity to play sport and learn about the law for FREE. The program runs after school on a Wednesday from 3pm-4.30pm and snacks are provided. For the final session for the term students were taken to laser tag at fountain gate.
students interested to participate in term 3 can collect a permission from from the year 9 and 10 admin office, or wellbeing office.
