Principal's Report

College Detention Policy

Expected behaviour at the College is defined by our College Values of Respect, Learning and Working Together.  Students who by their actions, show that they do not uphold these values will receive a consequence from their classroom teacher.  All teachers in all subjects will employ the same hierarchy of consequences to ensure students have consistent expectations of their behaviour.  This hierarchy of consequences will be as follows:

  1. A student breaches classroom expectations
  2. Reminder of the College values and which value the student is not adhering to
  3. Warning that continuation of the behaviour will result in consequences
  4. 10 minutes detention (with classroom teacher)
  5. 20 minutes detention (with classroom teacher)
  6. 45 minutes detention after school (with year level manager/coordinator)

If a student commits one of the following breaches of classroom expectations, that student may be sent to Time Out and a Year Level Manager or Year Level Coordinator referral will be made.

  1. Abusive and threatening language directed at teacher or student in an aggressive way
  2. Significant unsafe behaviour
  3. Constant refusal to follow reasonable directions which disrupts the learning environment for other students.

This information is to inform parents/caregivers that students can be required to stay after school for up to 45 minutes without 24 hours’ notice.

The College recognises that this may create some difficulty for families where a student is required to collect younger children from the Primary School. Should this be the case, I request you communicate this to me as Principal of the College, so that arrangements can be made to accommodate your needs.
