parent volunteers
Karen Harris
Principal
BSC is grateful to have the support of so many individuals from both within and outside of the immediate community. From School Council, to Parent Association to classroom, the college benefits from many people who generously extend their skills and talents to support the education of all BSC students.
Here are just a few of their stories...
SCHOOL COUNCIL
As the major governing body of the school, School Council oversees school operations and establishes the broad direction and vision of the college.
The BSC School Council meets a minimum of twice per term and is made up of representatives from all stakeholder groups - students, staff, parents and community. Collectively, the diverse range of skills and experience delivered by these volunteers benefit the college immeasurably - guiding a pathway toward continuous improvement and to building an even better BSC.
Rosa Lorenzon
Vice President
School Council
My background is in the area of mediation, having previously worked as a Conciliator at the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission for many years. I have been involved on the Coburg West Primary School Council and served as President for 3 years.
I have a strong belief in the school/home partnership and in public education. I look forward to serving on the BSC School Council this year and into the future - especially as our exciting building program begins.
Adam Ramage
President
School Council
This is my fifth year as a member of BSC School Council. I work as a CPA with Lanyon Partners in Camberwell. In my spare time, I am a committee member at the Brunswick Cricket Club, I am a coffee-lover and I enjoy walking. I often walk to local cafes to enjoy a good coffee!
Having previously held board positions with
Brunswick Industries, The Rotary Club of
Brunswick, Denzil Don Kindergarten and
Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre, I enjoy contributing to the community of BSC via School Council. I proudly support public education and consider the College values of teamwork, persistence, responsibility, achievement, excellence and respect to be great building blocks for the next generation of young adults.
PARENT ASSOCIATION
The goals of the Parent Association are to foster community and school spirit, to enhance the educational process through a variety of activities and events, and to support the development of school facilities and programs. A small but very hard-working team of parent volunteers mean that the BSC PA performs a vital and valued role in our community.
Kylie Moreland
Parent Association
I joined the BSC Parent Association in 2016, when my son Otis entered Year 8.
I like being involved in the school community. The BSC Parent Association has been a great way for me to get to know the 'mechanics' of the school and is a great opportunity to contribute to the school - to support both students and staff. Along with this, it has given me the chance to meet other like-minded parents and I believe the PA's role really strengthens the community as a whole.
Lisa Edgar
Parent Association
I became involved with the BSC Parent Association when my daughter, Julia, commenced at BSC in 2016. I enjoy being on the PA as I get to meet other parents, get to know more about the school and get to make a contribution to the school community.
Working part time and being a PA volunteer works well for me; I helped with several activities last year including the Trivia Night and the Second Hand Uniform Sales. I am looking forward to another year on the PA with its new faces and ideas.
