Principal's Report

Governance is not about making the ‘right’ decision, rather it’s about the process of decision making.

Last night the Board of The Hamilton and Alexandra College met for its sixth meeting of the year.  Chairman, Mr Alasdair Sutherland welcomed their newest member, Mrs Penny Adamson.  Penny works as a Real Estate Agent with Charles Stewart Western Victoria, specialising in high end residential and lifestyle property sales and marketing strategy throughout Warrnambool, Port Fairy and South West Victoria. Penny and her husband Nick are both Old Collegians, and their four children Jock (Year 10), Mitzi (Year 9), Tobe (Year 7) and Izzi (Year 5) currently attend College.  The Board is pleased with Penny’s appointment as they remain determined to incorporate a broad range of skills that enable them to meet the challenges of running a successful independent school.

Please note that next term we have introduced mid-length socks for girls and boys.  The Executive and I remain determined that we focus on the welfare of our children rather than constantly reminding them to ‘pull their socks up’.   Fiona and Judith are well stocked up in the Uniform Shop to supply both junior and senior school students.  Year 12 will be exempt from this decision and we will allow families a three week ‘grace’ period in order to purchase the new socks.  If you have purchased any old stock at the end of summer, please advise me via my PA Mrs Linda Archer.

I wish all six College hockey teams every success in their Hockey Grand Finals this weekend.  Tonight our Division 1 Men’s team play at 6pm and our Division 1 Women Strikers play at 8pm at Pedrina Park.  Tomorrow two College U/16 teams play at 9.30am, meanwhile the College Maroon and College Drop Bears play at 11.30am and 1pm respectively.   I hope all teams embrace the opportunity and earn the respect of their opponent.
