"Preshil is a marvelous example of such a place; free and expressive, but adaptive to each child’s needs. Learning should be fun."

The Preshil community of parents, alumni and students is full of remarkable people with stories we love to read, hear about and share. In their recent piece, The Design Files featured Melbourne creatives and mother-daughter duo Anna Schwartz and Zahava Elenberg. As well as sharing their thoughts on childhood and parenting, they discuss their love of Preshil and our creative, alternative approach to education. Read the full article here:

Sharing the Love of Rockclimbing

Last term we were also delighted to be able to welcome Zahava into our electives program as our Rockclimbing instructor.  The elective took place at Hardrock's Nunawading and city venues.

The students thoroughly enjoyed this program. Zahava, an avid climber herself, taught the students how to focus on their technique, route reading and how to set their individual climbing goals. Each week they experienced climbing drills and learnt the mechanics and art of climbing so they were able to master more difficult routes by the end of the elective. As Zahava mentioned to the students, Rockclimbing is now an Olympic sport - so you never know where it may take them!

"Climbing is an art - it combines meditation, focus, physical strength, patience, flexibility (mental and physical) and problem-solving skills. You don’t need to have any experience, just an open mind and determination."
