Springers in Action

What's been on at the Springs

State Hooptime Finals Year 3/4

Our 3/4 Hooptime team competed at State Finals this week.  Unfortunately, they were knocked out in the first round of the finals, but all participants should be proud of their efforts.  Well done on an amazing display of sportsmanship!

State Hooptime Finals Year 5/6

Our 5/6 Hooptime team had a ripper day out on Friday, also making it through to the finals.  After an amazing start to the day with 3 solid wins, they were tested in the Semi Finals but prevailed with a 26-24 win with only 23 seconds to go.

Into the Quarters (top 8 teams in the state for their division) where they unfortunately lost by ONE POINT.

Both Hooptime teams can hold their heads high for representing the Springs with such amazing drive and determination, not to mention sportsmanship and resilience.

Olden Days Celebrations

Year 1 students stepped back in time when they dressed as children from times gone by. The students enjoyed the experiences of what it was like to learn in the olden days.  With fun activities such as lemonade taste testing, scone making, and eating, paper doll creations, fancy handwriting, skipping, quoits, and chasing the hoop.  As well as learning how children were disciplined and how they addressed their teachers.

Year 6 Camp

Here are some amazing highlights from the Year 6 Students on Camp in Canberra.

Sth Melbourne Phoenix

The South Melbourne Phoenix Basketball team visited on Wednesday for some motivational clinics and, at the end of the day, some lucky grade six students got to take to the court against some of the players.

To say they were tall would be an understatement. They even made Mr. Holmes look like a Hobbit. Former NBA player, Zhou Qi, who stands at 7 foot 1 inch was a highlight as none of the students could reach the ball off of him.

That’s not to say we weren’t able to score against them with a couple of our players shooting threes and impressing our guests. A great time was had by all, and it just goes to show how exciting things are here at the Springs.
