Our Science of Reading Update

Last Friday Miss Kemp and Ms Stewart attended professional learning by Decodable Readers Australia. It was a most informative day and we received some great resources to complement our current teaching of phonics and reading. We were pleased to learn that our school’s current direction is in line with the latest in research and supports the Science of Reading approach – an approach which has been proven to benefit all learners of all abilities. It was a valuable day that has provided us with the tools and knowledge to continue making adjustments for our students and improve our expertise in the Science of Reading.

We recently purchased additional Decodable Readers Australia resources including non-fiction and fictional texts, fluency passages and Science of Reading Kits. We are continually exploring evidence based research to guide our teaching and learning. Our K/1 Kookaburras have absolutely loved using their new resources! We can’t wait to explore them further as we continue our Science of Reading journey.
