Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Prayer for those Affected by Flooding

Almighty God,

Creator and preserver of our world. We ask you to hear our humble prayers for all those affected by the devastating floodwaters throughout southeastern Australia.

Grant safety to the thousands of residents under evacuation orders. In your mercy, bring relief to affected areas and protect both life and property.

Give courage and hope in the midst of despair. Through the generosity of governments and individuals, provide a future for those whose present circumstances are marked by loss and desperation. Grant wisdom to those who assist, especially the emergency workers and aid agencies.

And by your gracious hand, rebuild communities where men, women and children are nurtured with care and love.

Amen

After two weeks in our school, two of the chicks went home to families last Monday. Lance's family was one, and as as you can see from the photo, Lance is very happy with the new addition to his family who he has named Jef with one "f".

Italian Day

On Wednesday we celebrated all things Italian with a special day of exciting experiences playing bocce, practicing soccer skills and making delicious Italian biscuits. A big thank you to Maria and Giulia who planned a special day for all to enjoy a "piece of Italian culture". Thank you also to the mums who helped out on the day with different activities and assisting with lunch.

Zoo Excursion

The busy week continued yesterday with all our students from Year Prep to Year Four visiting the Melbourne Zoo. Despite the wet weather, the day was a great success with the snow leopard, orangutans and tigers proving to be the most popular animals from the students I spoke to. Thank you to all the parents who braved the weather to be on the excursion with our students and staff.

Angela's Dance Group

Please be aware that Angela's Monday dance class will be conducted on Wednesday after school next week because Monday is a pupil free day. We are looking forward to Angela's group presenting at the Family Disco next Friday.

Baby Mila

Congratulations to our business manager Bernadette who is on maternity leave, with the news of the safe arrival of her baby daughter Mila. From all reports Mila and Bernadette are doing well, and Mila's big brother Leo is very proud of his little sister.

Auction Items

Bidding on the magnificent auction items has commenced with the pampering hamper and Indigenous football signed by Brownlow Medalist Gavin Wanganeen, already proving popular. The Patrick Cripps signed Carlton cap is awaiting a first bid. Each item has a bidding sheet. On the night of the Family Disco, there will be an opportunity to place last bids with winning bids announced on the night. All proceeds from these items and a raffle on the night will go towards our school.

As mentioned in last weeks newsletter, the music on the night of the disco is going to be supplied by one of our former students Jai Parekh who is also the cousin of Year Six student Ria. We really thank Jai for donating his services for our school community. There promises to be lots of great dance music on the night.

Monday and Tuesday next week

A reminder that there is no school for our students on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Monday is a report writing day for our teachers and Tuesday is the Melbourne Cup public holiday.

Yours Sincerely
