Sunscreen and Students’ Personal Products
With the increased sunshine and change of weather students are being encouraged to protect their skin with the use of sunscreen. We encourage the use of classroom provided sunscreen, (also soap and sanitiser), but medical exemptions are certainly accommodated. If your child can not for medical reasons use the school provided items, our policy is to treat personal products as though they are medicines. This requires carers to provide the product in the container in which it was dispensed, with pharmacy-printed label showing child’s name, expiry etc. Pharmacy-labelled sanitiser and sunscreen is kept in the classroom (the teachers can store it on a shelf or on a cabinet in a basket), not in student’s pocket, tray or backpack.
Any other product (moisturisers, gels, skin oil/sprays, etc) are to be kept at the front office and dispensed in the same manner as medication would.
Remembrance Day
On Thursday last week, the whole school (ELC & Primary) came together after an early recess to meet by the flags on the oval for a service of remembrance. We were privileged to have Mr Eliot McDonald join us to play the bugle and were fortunate to have an unplanned fly over from a RAAF plane shortly before the service. It was a special time of reflection and silence together.
Connected Schools Athletics winners!
The rains held off for our highly anticipated Connected Athletics Carnival, which was held at St Albans Reserve on Wednesday 16th Nov. This competition provides the opportunity for our athlete students to represent their school against the other Connected Schools (Golden Grove Lutheran and St Paul Lutheran).
Our students ran, jumped and threw to the best of their ability while representing their school with great pride. At the end of the day, we managed to do well enough to sneak away with the victory on 81 points, with St Paul taking 2nd place with 80 points.
Well done students!
A special thankyou to staff and volunteers who helped to make the day a success, particularly our maintenance crew (line marking and setup), staff members who helped with training (Janine P, Donna K and Tim E) and parents who helped with coaching (Mark Ormrod, Gavin Dew and Sam Wells).
