GRADE 6 NEWS

Camp Golden Valleys

On Monday 7th November, Grade 6 headed off to our second camp of 2022. Arriving at Camp Golden Valleys was thrilling for everyone. We were pumped for activities, excited to hang out with our friends and sleep in huge cabins. Transferring suitcases up and down the enormous hill was the only bad thing about our arrival. We were introduced to the staff and learnt the rules we had to follow for the next three days.

The activities we completed were insanely fun! They included Giant Swing, Archery, Building Huts, Flying Fox, Team Initiative, Obstacle Course, Low Ropes and Rock Climbing. In our free time, GAGA ball was definitely the most popular, followed very closely by Beach Volleyball.

The food was amazing and I think everyone was more than satisfied with what they had. Best meal of the camp went to the chicken schnitzel, corn and all the salads followed by chocolate brownie! The cabins were comfortable, clean and for some, hectic! Aside from the 5:00 a.m. morning wake up call from Cabin 5 singing I Want It That Way, most of us slept very well.

Our teachers were nothing short of amazing. It’s important that we thank Miss Newey, Miss Jones, Mr Hargreaves, Mrs Farmer, Miss Meyerowitz, Mrs Sinclair, Mr Bahn, Karen, Di and Mrs Walker for giving up their time to take care of us 24/7 and also for providing us great entertainment by all braving the Giant Swing!

The weather was great. It seems crazy that we were actually complaining about how hot it felt. We feel so lucky to have gotten the only warm, sunny days of Spring so far!

On Wednesday 9th November, as we set off home we reflected on a Camp with so many memories, laughs, challenges met and friendships built upon.
