Mr Irwin's Message

Hello Families and welcome to this week’s newsletter,

It was a pleasure to spend the end of last week with our 4/5/6 students at Camp Kangaroobie. Kangaroobie has been an institution of our camping program for a number of years and has a range of experiences that students thoroughly enjoyed.

Whenever we attend a camp, sporting event or excursion I talk to students about the importance of representing our school with pride.

One of the most pleasing aspects of this camp was how proud I was of all the students for the way they behaved and participated on camp. The weather certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of students who had a great time getting wet and muddy at the various activities. A huge thank you to the staff who attended to make camp happen. It is a big effort to spend nights away from family but so rewarding at the same time to see the enjoyment and success the students have.

Turtle Bend Live Event and Lantern Parade

This weekend coming is the Lantern Parade, which is a big event on the Teesdale community calendar! At assembly on Friday we will be showing off some of the lanterns and explaining to students some of the logistics for participation on the Saturday night. At 7:45pm those wanting to participate can meet at the school under the COLA and Parade volunteers will organise the distribution of lanterns. At around 8:15pm the parade will leave the school grounds and walk down to Turtle Bend.

The lanterns will then parade through Turtle Bend before being placed around the track and stay lit for the remainder of the evening. If you haven’t participated before it is a magical event to be part of. There will be a number of staff including myself and Mrs Clarke attending on the night to help with the marshalling of students at the beginning of the parade. I look forward to seeing lots of familiar faces there!

That’s it for this week’s newsletter. Have a great week and bye for now!

Remembrance Day Poppy Appeal

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War I. Over the past century, this moment has been adopted across the globe as a time to remember those who served and sacrificed in all wars and conflicts.

Teesdale Primary School is proud to support the Poppy Appeal. Students are helping to sell by visiting every classroom. Students can bring money to school to purchase the following items:

  • Poppies $2 or $5
  • Wrist bands $3.
  • Key rings and bag tags $4 each
  • Pens $5
  • Brooch $10

For more than 100 years, the annual Poppy Appeal has supported Australian veterans and their families. Your donation can help the RSL continue to deliver life-changing support to our veterans when they need it the most.
