Senior School Happenings

Almost another week down of remote learning and it has been so heartening to see the senior students ticking over with their learning. Most students have been engaging in lessons and the work required, which is exactly what is required during this period. We just need to keep things moving, so we can continue to work through the required curriculum and it has been great to see most students doing just this.

There are a handful of students who are finding this round of remote learning particularly challenging, so just as a reminder, if students are having trouble at home with completing their work, or finding time to do what is required, they can contact me (Mrs Altmann) and we will see if there are ways the College can better support those students. This could mean being invited to meet with staff at school for a conference or a catch-up session. There are a number of students already in at school on various days to complete their work and we encourage students to let us know if they are struggling to complete what is required. The senior years are not a time where we have the luxury to switch off, as it is clear that if the required outcomes are not met, then students cannot pass and will need to repeat. While we will do what we can, keep in mind that there is limited flexibility in the requirements of the senior years.

In the coming weeks, Year 10 students are going to be making decisions about their pathways for 2021 and beyond. I encourage them to look out for the information that will be coming and I urge them to engage with the information they will receive, in order to make informed decisions. It is also crucial that they ask any questions that they may have and seek help and guidance with their selections, as required. While we might not physically be at school, all senior staff are still available to discuss options and answer any questions that may arise.

As always, if there is anything that I can do to help, please do not hesitate to make contact with me.

Electives 2021

Thank you to all students who've completed and returned their Elective blocking forms. It's been great to have the support  of parents and students in making this process run smoothly, particularly with the added complication of it all being done remotely.

Miss Shuttleworth or Mr McClure will be in contact shortly with any students yet to complete their blocking form.

Webex Timetables

During this second period of remote learning secondary teachers have decided to have regular webex classes with the aim of encouraging student engagement. The timetable for each year group can be found below. Students are encouraged to attend, where possible. Classes will also be recorded and made available on Google classrooms for students to watch at a more suitable time if required.
