Literacy

Next week will be the rescheduled date for ‘Book Week.’ As with many things, Covid impacted the original first date in August to October. The theme for 2020 is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’. As reading is something to be celebrated and embraced, all grades will be focusing on sharing the books listed as finalists. Each grade will then complete an art based activity to complement their grades book of choice.

On Wednesday 21st October, we will be partaking in a remote incursion with the author of ‘Windows’. The author, Patrick Guest has kindly accepted sharing his knowledge and passion regarding the writing of this beautiful book. This is an absolute bonus for us as the Yrs 1 & 2 children shared this book during remote learning. It’s message of noticing the simple things around us and then the fact that one day we will all be able to hug and kiss the people we love is wonderfully presented. I think it is a fabulous book for each family to own as a positive keepsake of this difficult time.

On Thursday 22ndOctober we willbe havinga book parade. We ask the students to dress as one of their favourite book characters and if possible bring the book with them to school. We will have a parade during the day and enjoy looking at all the different characters from books.

As it is also the last day of the school week, due to the Grand Final holiday, there may be some senior students who prefer to dress in their favourite footy/soccer colours for the day.
