The church celebrated the feast of the rosary on October 7th.

Each grade is learning about and how to pray the Rosary.

Praying the Rosary in the Modern World

The tradition of meeting in small groups and contemplating the specific events in the lives of Jesus and Mary while saying simple prayers has been widely attributed to Saint Dominic. Over time the prayer sequence and focus on how God is at work within the lives of Jesus and Mary has further developed into the format we know today. There are now four parts to the Rosary that we focus on: these are referred to as ‘the Mysteries.’

  • The Sorrowful Mysteries
  • The Glorious Mysteries
  • The Luminous Mysteries (the Mysteries of Light)
  • The Joyful Mysteries

Mystical contemplation

The constant repetition of simple and familiar prayers of the rosary is a mantra, as it allows for the mind to focus on the repetition and the person enters more deeply into the particular mystery: the mind is taken to another place and removed from worry and thought.

Intimate reflection

Creating a prayer session that links each mystery of the rosary to the stories of our own lives helps us to recognise and celebrate the presence of God mysteriously at work within our lives.

Pious intention

This means approaching prayer sincerely and with reverence, making it special.

Hearts

A very warm welcome back to all of our wonderful families.

In 10 years’ time, what will you look back on and remember about the time you spent in isolation?

To ensure we remember this time we would like each student and a parent to complete a coloured heart to contribute to this school wide commemoration. On your heart, we encourage you to capture your memories of this time during ISO.

 Some ideas include:

-3 things you loved and 1 challenge you had

-a picture of your favourite time during isolation

Please include your name and class on the heart. We would appreciate it if you could complete your heart and return them to school by the end of Week 2 (16th October).

These will then be cut out, laminated and made into a bright, whole school display for everyone to enjoy. We hope to keep them all in a time capsule to look back on in the future.

Thank you in anticipation,

Jenny Keely (Student Wellbeing)
