Clyde North Campus News

Messages from the teachers to all students……

We are very excited to welcome back our year 8, 9 and 10 students next week. Most students will be eager to come back to school to meet up with their friends, see their teachers face to face and gain a sense of normal. However our ‘normal’ will be different. Many of the good COVID safe strategies that were in place prior to the last lock down are still in place with some extra precautions. It is critical that all students adhere to the College’s COVID safety plan which includes:

  • All students and staff must wear a face mask. If your child has an exemption from wearing a face mask please ensure a copy of this exemption has been forwarded to the College as soon as possible.
  • Face masks must be worn properly, that is covering the nose and mouth.
  • Social distancing: We are a big campus with many students therefore it is up to all of us to observe where practicable social distancing. This includes the yard, classroom, corridors, stairwells etc. It is tricky but can easily be done.
  • Hygiene: Sanitise hands upon entry into buildings, classrooms and before and after recess, lunchtime, eating and going to the toilet.
  • Coughing – into your elbow.

And students must stay home if unwell.

At this stage we will be continuing to check student temperatures. Details of where students are to go upon arrival at school will be on SPACE later in the week.

To help remind us of these important COVID safe steps there is plenty of promotional material around the Campus illustrating how to be COVID safe. I am very pleased to say that our own students have developed some of these posters and illustrated the messages in both English and other languages. I have included a sample in this newsletter. There will be more about the Year 11 Collaborative COVID Poster Design Project in the next newsletter

Don’t be surprised if you feel tired – because you are going to be back to a full day of learning plus recess and lunch time interactions. No more rolling out of bed to log on -now you will need to get up dressed and get to school.

Back to school. The Mask becomes part of our uniform and temperature testing is a must. Year 7, 11 and 12s are in the swing of our new normal.

30 October 2020 is World Teachers’ Day

I thought I would share with you a few snaps of our wonderful teachers. Let us celebrate them all this October.

Reminders:

Drop off and collection of students:

Parents, guardians and caregivers will notice that a new section of the Staff Car Park has been opened. I must stress that this a Staff Car Park only. Parents, guardians and caregivers are not permitted to drive on site to drop off or pick up their child. It is disappointing to see people ignore the signage that is clearly placed on the school fences and gates. This is a safety issue for students and staff arriving and departing from school.

Eventually we will have a pickup zone, but this is some time away as the next stage of building needs to be complete prior to the pickup zone being established. We need to work together to respect the purpose of the signage and ensure that our children and staff are safe at all times. Thank you in anticipation of your support.

I wish you all a safe and productive week.
