News Articles - A Blast from the Past (1918-19 Spanish Flu Epidemic)

Anne Joyce has put together some excellent and poignant articles and collages of the Spanish Flu Epidemic.

These are fantastic historical resources as social commentary (and  witty cartoons!) of a pandemic past. Some are primary documents and would correlate well with any discussion or study of our current COVID 19 pandemic dilemma. Great to use with students.

Here are some of the high-lights (do these scenes look familiar?):

In case you do not get a chance to get to these activities and great information in Book Week, don't worry, the page will be up for the remainder of Term 4.

Enjoy
