The Regional Engagement Enterprise

The holidays were a hive of activity in TREE in preparation for our Term 3 projects.

This term our cattle teams will attend shows in Parkes and Manildra together with the Scone Beef Bonanza. Additionally, our inaugural Wether team will be competing in Dubbo later in August. The Coddington family has kindly offered to run a junior judging workshop at their Roseville Park property in preparation next week.

We have also been feeding our piglets from Windridge Farm which will be used by the Farmers Market Team in Term 4. They have been very popular with the students and visitors!

The beginning of the new outdoor classroom and greenhouse

The foundations for our new outdoor classroom and greenhouse have been laid in the Wolaroi plot.

This construction will finish in preparation for the warmer weather!

The Dung Beetle Palace

Year 1’s Dung Beetle Palace has been constructed in preparation for their unit on mini-beasts. The students are working with Central Tablelands Landcare to help establish dung beetle colonies using a methodology trialled in Tasmania. This is new ground for the Central West – fingers crossed our frosts don’t cause too much damage!

Archibull

Year 8’s Archibull submission is a big focus for the term. Over the holidays we have managed to secure many items of wool paraphernalia to assist with our finished product. The students hope to tell the story of the wool industry from shearing shed to catwalk. If you have any old stencils, wool packs, shears etc. or anything else you think would be appropriate please do get in touch. Additionally, we are calling for yarn donations. If you could spare a ball or some leftovers to help with our giant cow-yarn bomb we would be most appreciative.
