Grade 2

Welcome back to a new school year in 2020!

Our students have been enjoying the Setting Up for Success program. Students have explored themselves and what they have in common, as well as what makes them unique. Each class has created a set of expectations and a class goal to work towards throughout the year.

In Literacy, students have been focusing on making connections to themselves whilst reading a text. They have been connecting memories to events that occur in the text to help them understand what is happening and how the character is feeling. Students then use these connections to write a meaningful reading reflection. They have also been working through the writing process to create recounts and narrative pieces. The students have had the choice to whether they want to continue a piece of writing or begin something new.

In Mathematics, the Grade Two students have been exploring a variety of games using their number knowledge. The students have used hands on materials to explore number facts as well as addition and subtraction. They have enjoyed playing mathematics games as a class as well as in pairs or small groups.
